Clark Kent is sinds hij een baby was opgevoed bij Jonathan en Martha, maar zelf stamt hij af van de planeet Krypton. Hij beschikt over superkrachten en poogt zijn achtergrond te verzoenen met zijn menselijke bestaan. In de stad Metropolis is hij een naaste collega van de journaliste Lois Lane.
